Up!Up! is a new Tier 2 Weight Management Programme specifically tailored and intended for people of Black, African & Caribbean heritage living in Lewisham.
The Programme will be delivered over 12 weeks and is made up of three components: physical activity, nutrition coaching and a cooking lesson. The first group will begin in March and the service will be running until the end of June 2022. Guys and St. Thomas’ NHS Trust are leading on the delivery of the new service. Both virtual and face to face sessions are available. The face-to-face sessions will take place in Catford South and New Cross.
This new service has been developed through an extensive co-production process led by Dr Louise Goff from Kings College London and Dr Shola Oladipo – CEO of Food for Purpose. During the coproduction, the team engaged members of Lewisham’s Black-African and Black-Caribbean communities, commissioners, service providers and community organisations and leaders through focus groups, interviews, and workshops. This has resulted in Up!Up!, a tailored service that meets the needs of the community and healthcare professionals.
