NHS Health Checks

NHS Health Checks are a national screening program for adults aged 40-74, focused on preventing major health conditions through early detection and personalised support.

The programme is designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and dementia.

There are two appointment available, face to face or telephone. Eligible patients who have had all measurements taken (e.g. hb1ac, cholesterol, height and weight) can be booked into a telephone appointment to complete a health check remotely.

Eligible patients that have not had measurements taken can be booked in for a face to face appointment.

The service is open to people without
pre-existing health conditions, the program identifies risks for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease and certain types of dementia.

An NHS Health Check is recommended every five years, empowering participants to take proactive steps toward a healthier future and supporting overall public health through early intervention.​
