As part of the local Lewisham Covid-19 emergency response, we are supporting the creation of temporary Medical Care Centres for people with Covid-19 symptoms at Marvels Lane Surgery in Grove Park and at the Waldron Health Centre in New Cross. The GP surgery on-site at Marvels Lane has been closed temporarily whilst this facility is operational while limited services run from the Waldron Health Centre.
It’s planned that the new service will operate from 8am-6.30pm, Monday to Friday. It will only be offering a triage service along with primary care treatment and signposting; it will not be offering any overnight or residential services. We would like to reassure you that plans have been put in place to ensure neighbouring residents, as well as our staff, will be kept safe.
The centres will only accept patients that have a pre-booked appointment. These patients will have been pre-screened by a telephone triage process by their own GP practice and will only be referred for a face-to-face consultation with a GP if there is a need. There will be no access to medical care for anyone that doesn’t have an appointment, this is not a walk-in service neither does it offer A&E or urgent care services.
The centre is a temporary measure to enable the NHS in Lewisham to cope with the impact of Covid-19 on local people. As only pre-booked patients will have access to the clinic this will allow us to manage patient numbers and ensure social distancing is correctly observed. We do not anticipate large numbers of people parking or travelling through the area. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause residents but it is essential that we provide care to all Lewisham residents during the current crisis.
Thank you for your continued support during these difficult and unprecedented times. We want to reassure you that we have plans in place to manage the situation and keep you and our staff safe. Remember, you can help by washing your hands with soap and water often and observing social distancing guidance to help reduce the risk of infection.
